Museum Studies - UI Collections

University of Iowa museums and research collections offer millions of objects and documents—real and virtual—for everyone from the scholar to the casual visitor. Highlights include the oldest university museum west of the Mississippi, the fifth largest North American university fossil collection, Iowa’s first state house, one of the country’s most important collections of African art, and Nile Kinnick's Heisman Trophy. The 16 UI collections and collection support organizations provide an essential resource for the Museum Studies Program, providing places for study visits, guest speakers and most importantly, opportunities for Museum Studies Internships, Directed Study projects and volunteer experience.  To find out more about the UI Museums and Research Collections visit the University of Iowa Collections Coalition website (www.uiowa.edu/collect).
