Dear Friends, Family, and Alumni of the Hawkeye Marching Band,

The 2018-2019 season has been an exciting one for the Hawkeye Marching Band. The director, four out of five graduate teaching assistants, and over 30% of the Undergraduate Staff for the band were all new in their roles, which brought fresh perspectives, energy, and enthusiasm to the HMB this year. Our six unique Halftime shows featured 14 custom arrangements, including seven that belong only to the HMB. Our performances included a collaboration with country music star Pat Green and the University of Northern Iowa Panther Marching Band to honor the Iowa Wave and patients in the Stead Family Children’s hospital. We also partnered with the UI Army and Air Force ROTC for our Military Appreciation show and the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital Kid Captain program for our Superheroes show.

Our vision for the future of the HMB includes growing the size of the band, outfitting the band with new game day instruments (including trumpets and woodwinds, which the band has never had before), procuring our own transportation for equipment on game days, and enhancements to our practice field, including lights, turf and drainage, and bleachers, so our friends, family, and other fans can join us for rehearsals. Your support will help make this vision a reality, and elevate the Hawkeye Marching Band’s visibility and impact in the University of Iowa community and beyond.

Give to the Hawkeye Marching Band

I hope you will consider making a gift to the Hawkeye Marching Band. Your support helps us uphold the traditions that make the band great, provides resources to help us innovate, and helps us build a foundation for an even stronger and brighter future.
