Co-Chairs: Tessa Henderson

Events and PR

The Events and PR sub-committee works to promote CSW and communicate with other offices, departments, and organizations around the campus and community. They also run the CSW website and Facebook page.

Co-Chairs: Chelle Lehman & Erin Kuester

The nominations committee works each year to identify candidates for open positions on the Council for the Status of Women.  The committee reviews all applications, and presents the candidates to the Committee as a whole at the April meeting.

The committee is also responsible for identifying areas of the nomination and application process which need attention.  The nominations committee reviews the applications each spring, searching for applicants with a commitment to diversity, and valuses that contribute to an environment that supports the rights of all women at The University of Iowa.

Chair: Marlys Boote

Unwelcome Behavior

The Committee focuses on improving the University of Iowa campus by promoting a continued dialogue on issues related to Unwelcome Behavior and supporting actions that ultimately reduce its frequency and impact. Unwelcome Behavior is defined by the Committee as sexual misconduct that a person considers undesirable or offensive (leaving other kinds of unwelcome behaviors to the purview of other committees).

To carry out this charge, the Committee will work to better understand and to raise awareness about the nature of Unwelcome Behavior on campus through a variety of information-gathering strategies, particularly the regular production of reports that reflect the University’s efforts in areas related to women. Occasional surveys on sexual harassment and assault may also be administered to the campus community through partnerships with other University offices and community organizations, including the Chief Diversity Office. Establishing such partnerships will enable the Committee to engage in a variety of outreach and advocacy activities and to support initiatives offered by others related to understanding and preventing Unwelcome Behaviors in our community.

Chair: Corey Hickner-Johnson
