The Iowa Honor Band will be held as part of the Hawkeye Honors Music Festival on February 17-18, 2018. The rehearsals on Saturday, February 17 will be held in the Voxman Music Building located at 93 East Burlington Street on the campus of the University of Iowa. The dress rehearsals and concert on Sunday, February 18 will be held in Hancher Auditorium. 

The 2018 Iowa Honor Band conductor will be Dr. Robert Belser, Director of Bands, University of Wyoming.

The fee for participating in the 2018 Hawkeye Honors Music Festival is $25.00, which will include lunch on Sunday, festival t-shirt, and performance in the stunning Hancher Auditorium. Information regarding payment will be made after the members have been selected.

Complete and submit the Iowa Honor Band Application by no later than December 11, 2017. PLEASE NOTE THE APPLICATION DEADLINE! If you have questions, email Dr. Mark Heidel at mark-heidel@uiowa.edu.

Summary of the application/selection process:

     A. Shortly after the application deadline of December 11, the directors of the students that submitted applications will receive an online information form to complete.

           The form will include space to provide a recommendation for each student applicant. 

    B.  The applications will then be evaluated and ranked based on the information provided by the students and directors. 

     C. Iowa Honor Band members will be selected according to the rankings based on the desired instrumentation for the band. 

     D. Notifications will follow as soon as possible after the selections have been finalized.

     E. The goal is to have the members selected and notified by early January.

     F. Once the members have been selected, directors will be contacted regarding payment for the registration fees.

6:30 PM - Concert - UI Symphony Band, Symphony Orchestra, and Choir - Concert Hall

                    The concert is open to the public and free of charge.
