2017-2018 WiSE Ambassadors Officers

Tess Davis

Hi! My name is Tess Davis, and I am from Indianola, Iowa. I am fourth year student, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I have been involved with WiSE Ambassadors since my first year at the university. During my second year I was the Community Service/Blood Drive Committee Chair, and now am the President. In addition to WiSE Ambassadors I have also been a peer mentor for 2 years and have also lived in the WiSE LLC. I am also involved in Society of Women Engineers, ON IOWA!, Engineering Peer Mentor, Engineering Problem Solving I TA, and cellist in the University All Strings Orchestra. Outside of school I love corgis, movies, and hanging out with my friends. I am looking forward to continuing to grow the WiSE Ambassadors section and cannot wait to meet everyone at our first meetings in the fall!

Vice President/Treasurer
Ellie Yap

Hi! My name is Elliana Yap, and I am currently the Vice President/Treasurer for WiSE Ambassadors. I am from Bartlett, IL, majoring in Human Physiology, minoring in Spanish and Chemistry, and am in my fourth year on the Pre-Medicine Track. On campus, I am involved in Medlife, Medicus, and MAPS. I am also an Undergraduate Research Assistant, and enjoy volunteering at UIHC. Outside of school, I love to read, to travel, to try new food, and to stay active by running and doing yoga. I joined WiSE Ambassadors during my second year and became passionate about the WiSE mission: to encourage young women to pursue their careers.

President Elect & Secretary
Claire Bartolone

Hi! My name is Claire Bartolone, and I'm a junior studying Environmental Engineering from Riverside, Illinois.  Besides WiSEAmbassadors, I'm heavily involved in the WiSE Peer-Mentoring & Tutoring programs, as well as On Iowa! (Go Hawks!)  This will be my second year serving as Secretary on the Exec Board, and my first year as the President Elect. In my free time I enjoy reading, badminton, tennis, Netflixing, arts & crafts, and going to the Iowa football games with my friends.

I've loved being a part of WiSE the past two years, and I'm really looking forward to working with a new group of girls who have the same passion for serving the community and participating in the STEM fields as I do. WiSE is a really great organization to be a part of, and I hope you consider us when you're looking for something to get involved in!

Public Relations Officer
Rojahn Kakavandi

Hi! My name is Rojahn Kakavandi, and I am from Decorah, Iowa. I am fifth year student, majoring in Human Physiology and minoring in French. I have been involved with WiSE Ambassadors since my first year at the university. I have had the pleasure of serving as the Educational Programming Chair, K-12 Officer, President, and now, I had the privilege of serving the Public Relations Officer. In addition to my passion for WiSE Ambassadors, I also work for the WiSE office and assist with our Peer Mentoring Program. On campus I am involved in Dance Marathon and The Persian Student Organization. Outside of school, I love to hike (I blame Decorah's gorgeous bluffs and hills), yoga, frozen yogurt, and going on unexpected adventures with my friends. I look forward to working with all of the new and returning WiSE Women, and I cannot wait to see you at our meetings this year!
