Welcome to WiSE!

THE MISSION of the Women in Science and Engineering Program is to expand and improve educational and professional opportunities for women in engineering by facilitating individual, institutional, and social change.

We also support women in all STEM majors through the Be-WiSE Living Learning Community offered by Residence Education.

Learn more about the specific aims of WiSE at our Mission/Goals page.

Who does WiSE Serve?

Any student at the University of Iowa who identifies as a woman and is majoring in an engineering field is automatically a part of the WiSE community. Programming is also open to all members of the Be-WiSE Living Learning Community (which serves all STEM majors) and allies of women in these groups.

Note: WiSE previously served women in all STEM majors campus-wide and may shift back to doing so in the future.

WiSE Women can choose to engage in our programming through:

  • Living in the Be-WiSE LLC
  • Participating in the WiSE Peer Mentoring Program
  • Attending social events, workshops, and seminars
  • Volunteering at outreach events with K-12 students
  • And MORE!

Participation in our programming is open to ALL, but geared towards a supportive community advancing women in engineering majors.
