Cynthia Joyce was appointed the office's full-time, professional staff ombudsperson on August 15, 2005. She is in the office Monday - Friday.
Dr. Susan Johnson was appointed to serve as Faculty Ombudsperson on January 1, 2010. She was the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the Carver College of Medicine from 1994 to 2003, and served as Associate Provost for Faculty from 2005 to 2009. She is in the office Monday - Thursday.
Kristal Gibson joined the office as a half-time Associate Ombudsperson on July 17, 2017. She has extensive training in mediation and served as an investigator and adjudicator for Title IX cases at the University of Iowa. She is in the office Tuesday - Friday.
All three ombudspersons are available to respond to concerns from or about staff, faculty and students.
Although you are welcome to stop by our office or contact us at your convenience, we encourage you to make an appointment so that we can ensure that someone is available to meet with you. Appointments can be made by e-mail (email@example.com) as well as by telephone (319-335-3608), and messages can be left on our voice mail after office hours or if no one is available to take your call immediately. Our Office Manager is Renée Sueppel, and she is available to schedule appointments and facilitate communication with the Ombudspersons.

How to Find Us
Room C108 is located on the first floor of Seashore Hall. From the west entrance across from Van Allen Hall, take the stairs up one half flight to the first floor, take a right, and turn left into the center hallway. C108 is halfway down the center hallway on the left.
Seashore Hall is located along Iowa Avenue, just east of Van Allen Hall, and is bounded by Iowa Avenue, Gilbert Street, and Jefferson Street. It houses the departments of Psychology and Sociology, general classrooms, and the Office of the Ombudsperson.
The accessible entrance is located at the southwest corner of the building, and is reached from Iowa Avenue. It is equipped with a power door opener.
There are metered parking spaces along both Jefferson Street and Iowa Avenue. There is also a public parking lot located across Iowa Avenue from Lot 2 (on the corner of Iowa Avenue and Gilbert Street).
