Aileen Sullivan is in her first year as a D.M.A. candidate in Band Conducting and a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Iowa. Prior to her current appointment, she was the Large Ensembles Coordinator for the music division at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She holds degrees in music education and conducting from the University of New Hampshire, where she studied with Andrew Boysen, Jr., Janet Polk, and Peggy Vagts.
Ms. Sullivan served as the Director of Bands at Lebanon High School in New Hampshire from 2011 to 2014, where she taught instrumental ensembles and general music courses. Her bands consistently received high ratings at state contest and earned first place in their division at the 2014 OrlandoFest competition. Ms. Sullivan also worked as the music director for the Lebanon High School Wet Paint Players, North Country Community Theatre’s teen program, and BarnArts Center for the Arts’ Summer Institute; her theatre collaborations were recognized numerous times by the New Hampshire Theatre Awards and the OWL Awards in Vermont. She freelanced as a performer with the New Hampshire Philharmonic, Dartmouth Wind Ensemble, Plymouth State University Symphonic Band, and the East Bay Jazz Ensemble.
Ms. Sullivan an active member of the New Hampshire Music Educators Association, serving on the Nominating Committee and All-State Band Committee. She has been invited to guest lecture at the University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State University, and Keene State College, and presented several sessions at NHMEA state conferences.
Originally from Berlin, New Hampshire, Ms. Sullivan currently resides in North Liberty, Iowa.
