Paul Downing is a graduate teaching assistant with the Hawkeye Marching Band instructing and arranging for the Hawkeye Drumline. He is pursuing his studies towards an MA in Percussion Performance, studying under Dr. Dan Moore. Paul received his Bachelor’s degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he marched with the Minuteman Band’s percussion section under DCI Hall of Fame member Thom Hannum.
Nolan Hauta is in his second year as a DMA candidate in Band Conducting and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Iowa. His duties include assisting with the Hawkeye Marching Band, coordinating the Iowa Pep Band, conducting the three concert bands and administrative duties for the band department including oversight of the Iowa Honor Band and Iowa Summer Music Camps.
Aileen Sullivan is in her first year as a D.M.A. candidate in Band Conducting and a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Iowa. Prior to her current appointment, she was the Large Ensembles Coordinator for the music division at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She holds degrees in music education and conducting from the University of New Hampshire, where she studied with Andrew Boysen, Jr., Janet Polk, and Peggy Vagts.
Joseph Cernuto is in his second year as a DMA candidate in conducting and graduate teaching assistant at the University of Iowa. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Cernuto was the director of bands at Sequoyah Public Schools in Claremore, Oklahoma. While at Sequoyah, Mr. Cernuto taught marching band, high school concert band, jazz band, beginning band and middle school bands. Mr. Cernuto's bands and students consistently earned superiors in district and state contests. Mr.
Joe Scheivert is in his third year as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for University Bands at the University of Iowa and is currently enrolled in the D.M.A. in Band Conducting program. His duties include conducting concert ensembles and serving as a graduate staff member for the Hawkeye Marching Band and Iowa Pep Band.
