Paul Downing is a graduate teaching assistant with the Hawkeye Marching Band instructing and arranging for the Hawkeye Drumline. He is pursuing his studies towards an MA in Percussion Performance, studying under Dr. Dan Moore. Paul received his Bachelor’s degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he marched with the Minuteman Band’s percussion section under DCI Hall of Fame member Thom Hannum. His drum corps experience includes one year with Spartans from Nashua, NH, and two years with the Cadets from Allentown, PA, where he helped the percussion section win the Fred Sanford High Percussion award in 2013. Since aging out in 2014, Paul has been an instructor with 7th Regiment from New London, CT, as well as his alma mater Methuen High School’s marching band, whose percussion section consistently earns high marks in MICCA and NESBA competitions.
