JT Womack is in his first year as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for University Bands at the University of Iowa and is currently enrolled in the D.M.A. in Wind Conducting program.  His duties include conducting concert ensembles and serving as a graduate staff member for the Hawkeye Marching Band and Iowa Pep Band.

Prior to his enrollment at the University of Iowa, Mr. Womack was the Director of Bands at Greenbrier Middle School, and was the Assistant Director at Greenbrier High School in Greenbrier, TN.  During his 10 years at Greenbrier Middle, the band grew from 55 students in grades 6-8 to 225 students, and consistently received superior ratings and invitations to the TN State Concert Festival.  He was also a Guest Clinician for the Austin Peay State University Middle School Honor Band in 2015. During his tenure, he performed and taught with the Nashville Wind Ensemble, and Tri-Star Brass Quintet. Mr. Womack was also an active member of the Middle Tennessee State Band and Orchestra Association. 

Mr. Womack earned a M.M.A. in Instrumental Conducting in 2007 from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, where he studied with Bob Lee, Dr. Gregory Wolynec, Dr. Douglas Droste, and Dr. Andrea Brown.  As Graduate Assistant for Bands, his responsibilities with the Governor’s Own Marching Band and the APSU Pep Band included conducting, aiding with band administration, leading pep band trips, and serving as student liaison for search committees.  Womack also earned a B.S. in Music Education degree from APSU in 2005, where he studied trombone with Susan K. Smith and graduated Cum Laude.  He also holds memberships in National Association for Music Education, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society.

 Originally from White House, Tennessee, Mr. Womack currently resides in Coralville with his wife Madeline.
